S235JR, which is among the ST 37 quality steels, is one of the most preferred product types in steel construction structures.
The letter 'S' in the name of S235JR steel, which is named according to the technical supply conditions of unalloyed structural steel, indicates that S235 steel is structural steel.
S235 indicates that the specified minimum yield strength is 235 MPa.
JR indicates that S235 steel has been subjected to an impact test under 20 Imp. S235JR, which is used in a very wide range of manufacturing processes, is a common carbon structural steel.
The minimum yield strength of S235JR steel is 33 ksi at 16 mm. S235JR steel has high formability and is limited to applications requiring high weight-bearing structural properties.​ ​
